From the Captain of the Fleet:

“The month of May offered our Fleet two opportunities for sailing related activities. The Catalina factory tour on May 22nd was well attended, both by prior attendees and newcomers who had not been there before. In addition, we were joined by several members of SMWYC who also enjoyed the tour. Frank Butler and Sharon Day hosted a question and answer session giving further insight into the company. After the tour, most of the Catalina group joined together for an informal dinner at a local restaurant. The weekend of May 31st, saw a fleet of 6 Catalinas tied up at the King Harbor Yacht Club. Due to some strong winds, we only had Aphrodisiac and Summerwind med-tie. The rest of us were able to tie-up at the other dock. On Saturday night we had a happy hour on the dock, a visit to the club, and a cook-out dinner. It was a fun social evening.  Sunday brought a lovely day and we all enjoyed a fast sail to MDR.

Our next meeting:   The Hamburger Social –Tuesday, June 17th

“Tuesday, June 17th, is the first of our popular hamburger socials. There is no speaker, just good food and drinks and plenty of social time together. For those who have not been able to attend some of our prior meetings or other sailing activities, this will be a fun evening to attend. The hamburgers, salads, fixings and desserts are all provided. All you have to do is cook your own. The food cost is only $5.00 each - a real good bargain.

"Under a Catalina Moon" – The Catalina Yacht's West Coast Rendezvous

“Friday, July 11th, thru Sunday, July 13th, are the dates for the Catalina rendezvous at Two Harbors.  You may make your reservations at the Catalina website (see below). After the cut off date on June 28th, there will be an additional charge and no guarantee of a free tee shirt or that the name of your boat will appear in the Rendezvous Program. The website also shows the numerous events that are taking place on Friday thru Sunday.

“As in the past our Fleet will be handling the check-in on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Gene Levinthal, Summerwind, is our point man on the check-in this year, but we will need some other Fleet members to help with the check-in. We look forward to seeing you at the Rendezvous.”

Your Fleet Captain, Hal Avery
